St. Elizabeth Hospital

St. Elizabeth Named Hospital of the Year

Gonzales- St. Elizabeth Hospital was named Hospital of the Year for hospitals with 61-160 beds at the 17th Annual Nightingale Awards held on March 3rd in Baton Rouge. This is the sixth time the hospital has been honored with this designation, and the second year in a row. It was also named Hospital of the Year in 2006, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2017.

The annual Nightingale Awards are sponsored by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation and the Louisiana State Nurses Association. Hospital of the Year is one of 14 awards given to individuals and organizations who have exhibited quality service, commitment, and excellence for Registered Nurses in the State of Louisiana.

“This award is a great honor and a validation that our efforts to provide the best healthcare with compassion to the people we are privileged to serve is succeeding,” said St. Elizabeth Hospital President and CEO, Robert Burgess. “It is an outstanding recognition of the dedication of all of our nurses to our mission.”

The Hospital of the Year Nightingale Award was presented to St. Elizabeth Hospital based on five criteria which were judged by a panel of nine judges representing other states’ nurses associations. The five criteria were: innovation through nursing leadership and management, support of nursing practice, nursing research, recognition of RN achievements, and support of nursing participation in professional groups.
