Ascension Chamber Names St. Elizabeth Hospital Large Business of the Year
St. Elizabeth Hospital was selected as Large Business of the Year for 2011 by the Ascension Chamber of Commerce during its annual Awards Banquet held on February 1, 2012 at the Clarion Inn.
In presenting the award, Ascension Chamber of Commerce Chairperson, Czarina Walker, cited St. Elizabeth Hospital’s contributions to the community through numerous local organizations, educating the community on important health topics, and providing over eleven million dollars in uncompensated care, charitable contributions, and the value of hours volunteered from 2009 through 2011. She also noted some of the hospital’s many achievements over the past year including receiving the Louisiana Excellence Performance Award by the Louisiana Quality Foundation, being named Employer of Choice® for 2010-2011 by Employer of Choice Awards, Inc.®, receiving Morehead Associates’ Apex Workplace of Distinction Award, being named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence(TM) by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and ranking in the top 1% in the nation for fiscal year 2011 as measured by Press Ganey.
St. Elizabeth Hospital President and CEO, Dee LeJeune accepted the award on behalf of the hospital. “It is my privilege to accept this award on behalf of the more than 500 team members of St. Elizabeth Hospital and the 250 team members of St. Elizabeth Physicians, our physicians, board members, and volunteers. Every day we work hard toward providing the best possible care we can to the people we serve. It is an honor to be recognized by members of our community as making a significant difference. We are especially humbled to be chosen for this honor given the caliber of the nominees. ” she said.
St. Elizabeth Hospital was one of four nominees for the honor. The other nominees were: Cabela’s, BASF, and Investar Bank.
